Winter murals in Hazaribagh countryside villages of Isco and Saheda, Dec.2014





 Natural earth colours - kali matti (black earth colour), dudhi matti (milk colour earth color), Pilla (yellow) and Lal (red) earth colours used for painting mud house walls by Tribals and Scheduled caste communities in Hazaribagh district in Jharkhand state in eastern India.








 Khovar (marriage art) painting- the Tradition of scratching the white Dudhi (milky white earth colour) with broken pieces of combs or bamboo strips or the four fingers after the mud house walls to reveal designs and patterns, exposing the black kali matti earth colour (manganese) Traditionally painted by women artists of Hazaribagh
